Provincial Nominee Program
Welcome to Brampton Immigration Consultancy, your trusted partner in navigating the diverse pathways to Canadian immigration. Explore the Provincial Nominee Program (PNP) – a route that allows provinces and territories in Canada to nominate skilled and experienced individuals, contributing to the country’s economic growth and regional development.
Provincial Nominee Programs (PNPs):
Each territory and province in Canada has autonomy over its immigration policies, including the Provincial Nominee Programs (PNPs). These programs allow provinces to nominate individuals who meet specific criteria, offering an additional avenue for Express Entry.
Eligibility Criteria for PNPs:
With numerous PNPs available, understanding eligibility can be overwhelming. Generally, eligible candidates fall into the following categories:
- Recent work experience in Canada.
- Working on a valid work permit.
- Currently in the Canada Express Entry pool, meeting criteria for at least one program.
- Studied, worked, or received a formal job offer in the province.
- Family members residing in the province in question.

Understanding the Provincial Nominee Program (PNP):
Under Canada’s Constitution, both the federal government and provinces/territories collaboratively manage the immigration system. The PNP empowers provinces and territories, excluding Nunavut and Quebec, to nominate individuals interested in immigrating to Canada and settling in a specific region.
Objectives of the PNP
The PNP, initiated in 1998, aims to distribute the benefits of immigration evenly across Canada. Historically, immigrants concentrated in Ontario, Quebec, and British Columbia. However, the PNP has facilitated a broader distribution, particularly in Prairie provinces and Atlantic provinces.
Express Entry-Aligned Streams:
PNPs often have streams aligned with the federal Express Entry system. These Express Entry-aligned streams, known as ‘enhanced nominations,’ provide candidates with an additional 600 Comprehensive Ranking System (CRS) points, virtually ensuring a permanent residence invitation under Express Entry. This process is expedited, typically taking around six months for federal processing.
Provincial Nominee Program Participants:
Application Process:
The application process depends on the specific PNP you choose:
1. Paper-Based Process:
– Choose a province, check eligibility, and request a nomination.
– Once nominated, apply for permanent residence (PR), with processing taking 20-24 months.
2. Express Entry Process:
– Create an Express Entry profile.
– Provinces will invite you to submit a PNP application on draw day.
– Submit your PNP application through the PNP portal.
– Provinces will provide decisions via email and your Express Entry profile, granting 600 points.
– Wait for the Express Entry Federal PNP draw to receive an Invitation to Apply (ITA) for PR.
– Apply for federal PR, with processing typically completed within 6-8 months under the PNP program.
How to Apply:
You can apply in two ways:
1. Province Invitation:
– Contact the province for a fast-track entry flow nomination.
– When nominated, create your Quick Entry Profile to display your nomination.
2. Express Entry Profile:
– Create your Quick Entry Profile, displaying your interest in a specific province.
– When the province sends a “Notice of Interest,” contact them directly.
Ensure eligibility for the chosen province, submit an Express Entry profile with minimal criteria, and, upon invitation, submit your electronic application to IRCC.
